Euro 2008 Geneva Tourist
Information
Situated
in the South West corner of Switzerland, Geneva is well known as an
international city with a history of cultural diversity and tolerance.
Geneva shares much of it's border with France and many of Geneva's workforce
live across the border.
Flights to
Geneva land at Cointrin airport - handily located just a 15 minute drive
from the city centre - and if you intend to fly to Geneva you can be in the
city in no time using the excellent transport links provided. The airport
has it's own train station with trains running into Geneva regularly. Even a
taxi from the airport to the city centre shouldn't cost more than £15.
Book a
hotel in Geneva in advance and you will have a large selection to choose
from to suit all tastes and budgets. Geneva is crammed with hotels but with
so many VIPs and business people passing through, available hotels
can be hard to find at the last minute during peak periods.
Geneva is
unlikely to be an exciting location for hedonists. The nightlife is more
suited to the altogether gentler tastes of the visiting dignitary. The theatre and opera are the order of the day rather than the
loud, brash nightclub and over 1000 restaurants offer a wide range of dining
options. The younger fun-loving crowd can be found in nearby Lausanne with
it's mix of bars, cafés and clubs.
