Salzburg Camping Info - Birkenstrand campsite

Set in an arresting location on the Wolfgangsee, the Birkenstrand campsite is around 30 kms from Salzburg and offers numerous activities for visitors. The nearby countryside has over 100 kms of traffic free cycling and mountain bike routes and with the surrounding area reaching up to 1800 metres above sea level there are some challenging hiking and climbing trails.

The nearby towns of St. Gilgen and Strobl offer water skiing schools, sailing activities and surfing for the more adventurous tourist while the nearby town of Bad Ischl offers culture vultures more sedate activities with the Kaiservilla top of the list. The residence was described as 'Heaven on earth' by Emperor Franz Joseph who used the sprawling estate as his summer residence during the time of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

The campsite itself has around 80 pitches, most with electricity, along with modern toilet and washing facilities. A mini supermarket is 2 minutes away on foot and there is a restaurant within walking distance.
